Small facts that aren’t on the CV.

  1. Trained as a welding engineer, then spent four years on an instrument meant for Mars.

  2. Researching the genealogy of the Potemkin family. Not those Potemkins: no relation to Prince Grigory or the battleship.

  3. Loves to cook, Korean food most of all. Recipe suggestions welcome.

  4. A big fan of whisky. There used to be a collection; it went the natural way. Now buys a bottle now and then.

    A month with a village herd. The goal was a fishing rod. I never bought it.

    Olympiad camps in economics, a subject I never studied. Many of my campers are now at MIT, LSE and Harvard.
